Emu Oil.

Transdermal Carrier

Emu oil is a rendered fat from the emu (Dromaius novaehollandiae), refined into a lightweight, nearly odorless oil. Its fatty acid profile — approximately 42% oleic acid, 21% linoleic acid, 21% palmitic acid — so closely mirrors the lipids in human skin that the stratum corneum does not resist it. Emu oil penetrates transdermally past the outer barrier and into the dermis.

In this formula, emu oil's primary role is delivery. GHK-Cu and methylene blue follow the transdermal pathway it creates rather than accumulating at the surface — solving the problem that limits most topical actives. Research by Holick MF et al. (Skin Research and Technology, 1998) found emu oil produced significantly greater skin thickening and epidermal DNA synthesis than mineral oil.

Copper Tripeptide-1 · Collagen Signal

GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper peptide found in human plasma that declines significantly with age — from around 200 ng/mL at 20 to 80 ng/mL by 60. It functions as a biological signal that activates skin repair gene expression, stimulating collagen synthesis in dermal fibroblasts. Research documents a 70% increase in collagen synthesis in vitro and activation of 31 of 84 studied anti-aging genes.

USP Grade means the GHK-Cu in this formula meets United States Pharmacopeia purity standards — 99%+ active compound, defined heavy metal limits — the same benchmark used for hospital-grade pharmaceuticals. Not all topical GHK-Cu products use this grade.

Mitochondrial Antioxidant

Methylene blue is a redox-active thiazine compound used clinically since 1891. In skincare it functions as a mitochondrial antioxidant: it cycles between an oxidized blue form and a reduced colorless form inside cells, acting as an electron carrier in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. This reduces the reactive oxygen species that damage collagen while supporting ATP production in dermal fibroblasts.

Xiong ZM et al. (Scientific Reports, 2017) found methylene blue extended human skin fibroblast lifespan by approximately 2x in vitro. In the formula, it supports the cellular energy fibroblasts need to execute the collagen synthesis that GHK-Cu initiates. The blue tint in the bottle is the active compound — it fades seconds after application.

Carriers, Botanicals & Base

Five more. Each with a purpose.

Apricot Kernel Oil
Apricot Kernel Oil 04 / 08 · Carrier Oil

Lightweight oil high in oleic and linoleic acid. Works alongside emu oil as a secondary delivery vehicle and contributes barrier-supporting lipids that mirror the skin's own sebum.

Frankincense Oil
Frankincense Oil 05 / 08 · Botanical

Boswellia-derived essential oil with documented anti-inflammatory properties. Studied for support of skin cell regeneration and calming surface-level inflammation.

Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender Essential Oil 06 / 08 · Botanical

Included at low concentration for mild anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties. Not present as a fragrance additive — included for documented barrier-support activity.

Sunflower Lecithin
Sunflower Lecithin 07 / 08 · Emulsifier

Phospholipid emulsifier that stabilizes the oil-water interface and prevents separation. Contributes phosphatidylcholine, structurally similar to the skin's own lipid barrier.

Distilled Water
Distilled Water 08 / 08 · Base

Purified aqueous base free of minerals, heavy metals, and microbial contaminants. Distilled — not filtered or tap — to eliminate variables that affect formulation stability.
